Student classes at the Academy are for students aged 14 or above with dance experience, and are held on Wednesday evenings.
The timetable is designed to provide pupils with a balance of advanced exam training and creative master classes. Pupils work towards Advanced (Level 3) examinations (Intermediate – Advanced 2) with the examining bodies Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, and the Royal Academy of Dancing. Our intention is to the give our students the greatest opportunity we can to reach their highest potential. We assist in audition preparation and coaching and offer realistic, honest advice that continues to lead to many successes and great careers.
Classes are offered in RAD ballet, master ballet including Pointe work, modern, separate boys work, body conditioning / limbering, tap and stage work that leads to our annual production at the Albert Halls, Bolton.
Ballet is a great way of gaining strength, posture, grace, muscle tone, technique and musical awareness.
Modern Dance develops and evolves with the changing fashion in dance. The examination syllabus, which combines modern dance, jazz and other dance styles, trains young people to become stronger, disciplined and more versatile dancers.
Jazz Dance emphasises the development of strong dynamics with isolated movements and strong dance performance. The course work covers Commercial, Classical and Street Jazz. The work focuses on developing a strong and secure technique and body awareness, complemented with challenging work.
Tap Dancing is a rhythmical stimulating style of dance, which is a fun way of developing co-ordination, technical skill and tonal awareness.
Limbering teaches the dancer how to stretch and condition their muscles to aid composure, technique and protect their muscles from damage.
Stage Work is a fun way for a child to experience team work and special awareness while also stimulating the child's creativity and imagination. Each child is also given the opportunity to perform in the Academy's annual production in a variety of musical styles.
