Senior classes at the Academy are specifically designed for pupils aged 11 or above with dance experience, and are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
The timetable is designed to provide pupils with a balance of exam training and creative master classes. Pupils work towards Intermediate / Advanced (Level 2 / 3) examinations (Grades 4 to 6) with the examining bodies Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, and the Royal Academy of Dancing. Our intention is the give each child the greatest opportunity to reach their highest potential for either an exciting hobby or as an entry to a professional career within the industry.
Classes are offered in RAD ballet master ballet including Pointe, body conditioning / limbering work, modern, separate boys work, tap and stage work that leads to our annual production at the Albert Halls, Bolton.
Ballet is a great way of gaining strength, posture, grace, muscle tone, technique and musical awareness.
Modern Dance develops and evolves with the changing fashion in dance. The examination syllabus, which combines modern dance, jazz and other dance styles, trains young people to become stronger, disciplined and more versatile dancers.
Jazz Dance emphasises the development of strong dynamics with isolated movements and strong dance performance. It is fun packed with traditional jazz choreography with a urban street vibe. The course work covers Commercial, Classical and Street Jazz. The work focuses on developing a strong and secure technique and body awareness, complemented with challenging work.
Tap Dancing is a rhythmical stimulating style of dance, which is a fun way of developing co-ordination, technical skill and tonal awareness.
Limbering teaches the dancer how to stretch and condition their muscles to aid composure, technique and protect their muscles from damage.
Stage Work is a fun way for a child to experience team work and special awareness while also stimulating the child's creativity and imagination. Each child is also given the opportunity to perform in the Academy's annual production in a variety of musical styles.
Drama has many forms which have benefits on child development plus gives self confidence, imagination and its also great FUN!
Our singing classes on the theatre course are in the form of a choir. We work on a wide repertoire of songs including Disney, Musicals and more.
